Pediatric and PMTCT Lead (Expiration 13/10/2019)

POSITION SUMMARY

Working under the guidance and direction of the Technical Director for the RISE project in Burundi, the Pediatric and PMTCT Lead will be a key member of the senior technical in-country team and oversee the implementation of pediatric and PMTCT programming to develop new strategies for reaching HIV epidemic control in Kirundo Ngozi, Kayanza and Bujumbura Rural Provinces. S/he will provide technical and operational guidance and oversight to the Pediatric and PMTCT officers at provincial and site level, liaising with partners and local organizations.

This is a grant funded position

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a variety of interventions related to Pediatric HIV care, treatment, and PMTCT, including but not limited to the expansion of early infant diagnosis, adolescent programs, pediatric tuberculosis, and nutritional rehabilitation program
  • To provide on-going supervision to the Pediatric and PMTCT Officers
  • To provide on-going supervision of HIV care and treatment programming
  • To approve procurement of equipment and consumables
  • To coordinate training and mentorship of facility staff
  • To assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • To liaise with National AIDS Program, Ministry of Public Health and Fight Against AIDS and other stakeholders in coordinating HIV care and treatment programming

EDUCATION

  • MD preferably with Masters in Public Health (MPH) or similar degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in program planning

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pediatrician with demonstrated experience in the care and treatment of pediatric HIV
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience practicing care and treatment of people living with HIV and ART
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience developing programmatic plans, monitoring, providing technical support
  • Demonstrated experience in resource limited settings
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Fluent French and English oral and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally in French and English and oversee development of comprehensive program reports

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel within Burundi conducting site visits
