Description du poste / Fonctions / Attributions :

The selected candidate will lead the African Insurance Organisation by developing and implementing strategies through appropriate structures, people and partners and resources. The strategy is to lead advocacy of the industry, promote African Insurance industry reputation through awareness and communication, promote networking, skills development, encourage the development of new products and distribution channels exchange of knowledge and best practices in innovation; lead and conduct market research for the industry.

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities for the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to: 

  1. Grow and maintain membership base through communication and other avenues
  2. Improve service satisfaction index among the members: Feedback taken after every conference
  3. Implement a stakeholder management framework
  4. Ensure good corporate governance: compliance to key regulation, risk management and corporate governance requirements and advocacy on topics relevant to members
  5. Improve operational efficiency
  6. Develop and implement organizational strategy and monitor alignment of divisional strategies to the corporate strategy
  7. Drive good corporate citizenship
  8. Demonstrate Living Organisation values
  9. Demonstrate effective leadership
  10. Implement a talent management strategy; succession planning and development of internal skills

 

Description du profil du candidat :

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration. Insurance qualification will be an asset.
  2. Post graduate commercial degree
  3. At least 5 years managerial, 5 years senior or executive management experience with CEO experience preferred
  4. Experience in financial sector / insurance sector preferred
  5. Fluent in English and French
  6. Negotiating skills
  7. Persuasion skills
  8. Analytical skills
  9. Communication skills
  10. Leadership skills
  11. Strategic thinking
  12. Influential
  13. Knowledge of insurance, business acumen, All legislative and regulatory requirements. Also well connected within the insurance sector across Africa.
Informations supplémentaires :

The African Insurance Organisation (AIO), established in 1972, is a non-governmental organisation recognised by many African governments. Following the headquarters agreement the government of Cameroon signed with the organisation, the Permanent Secretariat of the AIO was set up in that country. The AIO consists of a General Secretariat, headed by a Secretary General, an Executive Committee, headed by the President and the General Assembly which is the supreme body of the Organisation. The objectives of the organisation are to develop a healthy insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa and to promote inter-African co-operation in insurance.
