Finance Director (Expiration 10/11/2019)

Job Description:
The main job purpose of the FD is: Functioning country treasury operations; Integration and transition of mergers, acquisitions, corporate reorganization and carve-out of subsidiaries; Tender and bid commercials pricing; Improve the capital and debt structure and interacting with banking or other partners when opportunities arise; Responsible for country tax compliance, tax accounting for income taxes, review and oversee preparation of all tax returns; Compliance with tax legislation; Responsible for budgets, forecasts, business plans and financial reports; Responsible for internal and external financial reports, external audit, maintaining books of accounts, month-end closing, applying policies and procedures and complying with IFRS and local GAAP. This role reports directly into the Group Financial Controller.
  • Oversee the preparation of forecasts and budgets in line with Group FP&A policies and procedures with the support of the Country General Manager
  • Provide guidance to ensure that budgets and forecasts are prepared in accordance with IFRS
  • Oversee and review cash forecasting reports prepared based on collections and payments schedule including preparation of 12-month cash flow forecast
  • Responsible for implementing and reviewing list of requirements to be delivered by local finance teams on a monthly basis to support income statement and balance sheet positions and accurate month-end financial closing and comply with the month-end closing activities, processes and deadlines
  • Review journal entries and maintaining of company's books and records in accordance with IFRS
  • Review and analyse balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, balance sheet schedules and breakdowns, balance sheet movement schedules, general ledger to subledger reconciliations, fixed assets register and listing, fixed assets movement schedules, loan movement schedules and loan summaries
  • Correct entries for all open items in the month end balance sheet reconciliations and ensure that balance sheet reconciliations review actions are closed
  • Review underlying supporting information for payroll and payroll related costings, accruals and prepayments
  • Implement appropriate mechanisms for ongoing reconciliation and review
  • Ensure timely and effective reporting of any system/data issues which impact delivery
  • Analyse the usage of existing Oracle modules or other Financial Software and recommend proper action and modification when necessary
  • Review variance analysis of key accounts for high visibility on the movement of their balances
  • Balance aging review, analysis and action
  • Provision/write-off review, analysis and action
  • Bank reconciliation review and analysis
  • Maintain and build relationships with banks as well as potential future regions
  • Actual financial v/s allocated budget analysis and variance analysis
  • Oversee preparation and review ad-hoc financial reports requested by Country General Manager and corporate head office
  • Integrate and transition acquisitions, mergers, corporate reorganisation and carve out of subsidiaries
  • Support the Country General Manager and Business Development in bid/tender pricing commercials pricing
  • Support Group Treasury on Financing or refinancing projects across the country
  • Liquidity Management – development and implementation of common cash management solutions (e.g. invoices discounting, receivables factoring etc.)
  • Supports Group Finance with short & long-term intercompany loans, deposit, loan agreements and coordinate cash movements and monitors liquidity/cash flow impact and management
  • Assist and support the Business Support Centre with documentation or assistance on queries
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial information for reporting, monitoring and assessing tax compliance, tax accounting for income taxes and compliance with legislation
  • Monitor tax risk mitigation
  • Timely and accurate reconciliation of tax accounts
  • Review and direct the preparation of monthly financial statements, management accounts, financial reporting packages and tax packages in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP for timely and accurate submission to corporate head office
  • Review and direct guidance in the preparation of bridges between local GAAP and IFRS
  • Train, direct and supervise accounting staff, coach and evaluate subordinates
  • Direct, delegate and control policies and procedures and assist subordinates in application of policies and procedures
  • Responsible for closure of audits within the defined timeline
  • Work as an interface between the local Finance teams and Auditors
  • Develops procedures and instructions necessary to ensure effective planning, operation and control of the department’s activities
  • Build the recruitment team, optimising talents and growing individuals
  • Report non-compliance cases and initiate actions as per ‘Managing Capability and Discipline Concerns Policy
  • Exercise due diligence towards health and safety of self and others in the organisation
  • Analyse current risks and identify potential risks in the area of responsibility
  • Report the risk tailored to the relevant audience
  • Build risk awareness amongst team by providing support and training
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business, a Master’s degree highly advantageous
  • Chartered Accountancy qualification (e.g. CSA, CA)
  • 10+ Years of Experience in Financial Directing, Controllership and Accounting
  • Experience in monitoring service levels and implementing corrective actions
  • Knowledge of emerging market banking products and working experience in emerging markets    
  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation and financial statement analysis, including an ability to analyse cash flow and the impact on the financial statements
  • Advanced skills on MS Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Oracle systems, Hyperion, BI Tools and Cash Management tools
  • Strong grip over IFRS and local GAAP
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
