Product Manager (Expiration 12/05/2019)

Job Purpose

• The Role holder will be responsible for the design and delivery of the product line strategy and annual plans to support the achievement across, Loans, Credit Cards, Liabilities s and wealth products and services. The role holder will be responsible for developing the product line strategy to align with customer segmentation strategy.
• The role holder will be responsible for the product mix and product positioning of all existing and new products in the specified product line across the customer segment.
• The role holder will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the product line strategy to maximize NII, fee income for assets, liabilities and credit cards and wealth products for the segment. 
• Core function of meeting balance sheet and P&L targets for the segments by working with key stakeholders. 

Main accountabilities and approximate time split
Product and Proposition Management: Time Split: 75% • Provide Clear guidelines to Segment Manager for action plans and activity to manage the specified product line performance and to improve product line profitability in line with customer segment objectives.
• Have Balance Sheet and Income responsibilities for the total segment and individual products sets at the segment level. 
• Responsible for launching new campaigns that meet customer needs whilst maintaining overall profitability and yields across loans, cards and liability products. 
• Work jointly with the Insurance and investment product manager to enhance customer offering. 
• Be the focal point for all new product launches and creation of new customer propositions. 
• Responsible for market competition scan to understand the key segment specific offering in the market, have enough customer insights to build upon. 
• Responsible for creation of new campaigns that meet the segment specific objectives. 
• Creation of incentives schemes for the front line that promote segment specific objectives. 
• Ownership of pricing and schedule of charges for the customer segment in terms of system parameter. 
• The focal point for all customer specific pricing and fees on all products and services. 
• Responsible for streamlining of all processes to enhance customer experience. 
Operations and Technology: Time Split: 10% • Liaise with / support and ensure timely delivery from Change, Operations &Technology teams for development of processes, infrastructure and IT capability. 
Controls and Governance: 
Time Split: 15% • Ensure clean audit rating – 0 tolerance policy
• Own and manage the business continuity management plan for the Liability Product team. Ensure that bi-annual tests take place and that any failures are reported.
• Report incidents or risk events and ensure that proper escalation takes place.
• Ensure that required project governance standards for implementation of new products and propositions or launch of new distribution channels.
• All new product and existing products should be in compliance with all central bank regulations, legal frameworks.

• Ability to sell new ideas and influence/guide strategy at “fairly” senior levels

Knowledge, Expertise and Experience
Knowledge, Qualifications/ Experience:


• Minimum 7 years’ experience, preferably in Retail Banking 
• Thorough understanding of customer segmentation theory and practice coupled with a customer interaction experience
• Detailed knowledge of product profit drivers, with proven experience of income and cost management
• Knowledge of banking products and the manner in which systems support them
• Detailed understanding of product offerings in the wider financial services industry
• Good understanding of legislation related to financial services and channel delivery
• Fully competent in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel & Power Point
• A Bachelor’s degree is essential.
