Operational Risk Manager (Expiration 16/12/2018)

Job Purpose
• As central point monitor, analyse, escalate and take remediating action as necessary regarding all Operational Risk elements (Risk Events “RE”, Risk & Control Self Assessments “RCSA” Key Risk Indicators “KRI”, Emerging Risks ‘Heat Map’, New Product Approval (NPA) on local and regional level.

• Provides assurance on the consistent implementation of the operational risk framework, challenging business and accountable executives in the process;

• Ensures consistency in implementation and testing of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework.

• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Attijariwafa bank Operational Risk Framework and internal Policies.

• Ongoing Reviews and Assessment of Expected Loss Appetite / Quality of Risk Event reported on system.

• Independent party who oversights and challenges business inputs and reports.

• Train and develop knowledge and ensure a high degree of awareness to management/staff with respect to various Operational Risk aspects (Risk Events, RCSA, etc.);

Main accountabilities and approximate time split
Testing and Technical Support
Time Split: 40% • Provide independent assessments towards shortfalls took place behind the Risk Event.
• Challenge Risk Event write up and escalate to management the shortfalls took place by the entities. Provide expert advice during Risk Event corrective actions and lessons learnt.

• Assist to prepare / analyze / review the data necessary for various deliverables / presentations that include subsidiary Audit Committee “SAC”, Board Risk Committee “BRC” , Internal Control Committee “ICC” and other governance committees, 

• Expert advice to stakeholders regarding, Risk Events “RE”, Risk & Control Self Assessments “RCSA” Key Risk Indicators “KRI”, New Product Approval (NPA), and Operational Risk Systems;

• Provide adequate support to the organization and accountable executives regarding, Self-Assessment for RCSA testing and Operational Risk System and ensure quality reports are produced;

• Proactively highlighting emerging risks, identifying and assessment of material operational risks;

• Provide the necessary Operational Risk trainings and awareness sessions to Attijariwafa bank staff;

• Supporting business to ensure that possible risks were identified by OR team and mitigated as appropriate.

Relationships / Stakeholders Management
Time Split: 40% • Submission of regular MI as necessary to relevant stakeholders in several committee meetings;

• In line with mandate, review and escalate Risk Events as per policy and minimum standards;

• Quality Assurance and challenge test results and verify the completeness and adequacy of risk and control self-assessment and new products, procedures and procedural changes;

• Submits BASEL Quantitative Impact Studies “QIS” as directed by Central Bank of Egypt.

• Provide expert advice on risk practices, as outlined in the framework, in the businesses;

• Providing on-going coaching and guidance to and creating awareness amongst first line business and second line functional management.
Time Split: 20% • Disseminate Operational Risk policies across the country, providing support and guidance for implementation and ensuring adherence to the policies; 

• Take responsibility for influencing the management and accountable executive of their risk profile by e.g. proactively highlighting emerging risks, identifying and assessment of material operational risks they face;

• Collaborations with all stakeholders during the Internal Control Committee ‘ICC’, Subsidiary Audit Committee “SAC”, Board Risk Committee “BRC” and other relevant committees and forums.

Knowledge, Expertise and Experience
Knowledge, Qualifications/ Experience:

 University Degree (Accounting / Business / Economics);
 Profound Knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
 Profound experience in retail / corporate / treasury / Operation flow of work and procedures.


 Excellent Risk Assessment / Analysis;
 Excellent Presentations / communication Skills; 
 Excellent Understanding of the Banks operating systems / products / services & Policies
 Excellent Managerial / Analytical skills
