Monitoring and Control Manager (Expiration 10/11/2018)

Job Purpose
• Ensure that all activities performed by Retail Credit Policy, Credit MIS & Credit Operations are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal AWBE Policies and procedures. 
• Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
Main accountabilities and approximate time split
Underwriting & booking Monitoring Time Split: 50% • Monitor Credit assessment unit’s accuracy of data entry through MI and the accuracy or compliance of their decisions to the communicated credit policies through daily sample checks.
• Daily sampling of applications processed on the previous day per assessor per product.
• Daily thorough review of all excesses & deviations in all products to ensure that proper approvals are obtained according to delegation & deviation matrixes and according to Credit Policies as well. 
• Daily review of exception reports to ensure that proper deviations have been obtained; breaches are escalated as appropriate
• Quarterly sampling of Company Coding to ensure that the coding is done as per criteria defined by Retail Credit Policy. 
• Provide ongoing coaching, counseling and feedback to Credit Assessment Teams. 
• Monitor and control performance of Assessors to identify adverse trends and initiate appropriate actions as & when required.
• Conducting a monthly sampling on booked unsecured & Premier Loans to ensure that facilities have been booked into customers’ accounts as per Assessment approvals’ terms & conditions. Escalate any issues as appropriate to take proper actions or rectifications
Collections Monitoring 
Time Split: 30% • Conduct Collections Heat Map testing 
• Conduct 100% review of settlement cases to verify that all cases have been approved in accordance to the Settlement policy & its delegation matrix grid. 
• Review the I Score reports of post write off settlement cases to confirm that they were correctly updated on the credit bureau. 
Portfolio Reviews 
Time Split: 10% • Sample the accounts eligible for write off lists generated by Retail Credit MIS to cofirm that the policy rules were applied correctly. 
• Assist the Credit Policy & Credit MIS in any data validation exercise. 
• Review deceased cases to ensure proper documentation is in place & proper flagging on the banking systems. 
• Review data quality reports generated by Credit MIS on monthly basis & provide feedback for required corrections if any. 
Staff Management 
Time Split: 10% • Review individual performance against agreed objectives (self). 
• Develop and agree individual performance standards and targets (self). 
• Act as a point of reference for retail lending policies. 
Technical skills / Competencies
• Familiar with Retail banking credit analysis & collections methods and metrics
• Solid knowledge of Retail banking minimum systems requirements and processes
• Superior negotiation skills to interface with assessors, collectors and senior management
• Strong analytical skills and detail oriented to be able to identify negative trends through MI reports
Knowledge, Expertise and Experience
Knowledge, Qualifications/ Experience:

Strong knowledge of the bank’s customer service standards. 
Good knowledge of the retail credit policy. 
A good understanding of the bank’s lending policies, principles and procedures. 
Good knowledge of the different processes affecting the consumer life cycle. 


Previous experience in the field of credit initiation / fulfilment
